I have used MySQL mostly in conjunction with PHP, WordPress and Drupal. An interesting use of MySQL was to analyse HMTL traffic to and from a series of applications, the data being loaded manually but thereafter denormalised automatically via database triggers calling stored procedures.
I also written and delivered a training course comparing syntax and use of 4 main SQL offerings i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and PostGres.
