Project/Team Leadership
As a Wonderful Choice consultants work from the inital stages of systems development
right through to deployment and subsequent support, frequently there is a requirement
to provide team and project leadership.
For example, Jon Elsom has, in the past, acted as project manager on a variety of Oracle-based
projects for government agencies and lead a development team of up to six people for eight
years. Leadership responsibilities in that time included:
- The interviewing and recruitment of both permanent and contract staff
- Devising project plans, spending forecasts and other project level documentation
- Reporting to both project and IS boards
- Liasing with other projects to ensure joined-up functionality
- Formulation of job specifications and TOR's
- Dealing with recuitment agencies and other HR bodies
- Team leading mixed teams of permanent, contract and third party resources
- Being conscious of the differing requirements and aspirations of members of those teams
- Mentoring and ensuring knowledge transfer to spread skills
- Giving appraisals and providing active staff management
- Being part of the development centre management team, having significant control in running a 30 strong workforce
Every time A Wonderful Choice runs a training course leadership skills are employed to encourage
the delegates and lead them down the chosen learning route.
